Race Day: May 7, 2017
Roll through NYC with TEAM DEBRA on May 7, 2017 as we ride in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour! The 40-mile course will take cyclists from around the world on a tour of all five boroughs of NYC. Help TEAM DEBRA spread much-needed Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) awareness and raise money to fund groundbreaking research for a cure and treatment for EB.
What is EB?
Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB, is a rare genetic connective tissue disorder that 200 children per year are born with in the United States. There is no treatment or cure. There are many genetic and symptomatic variations of EB, but all share the prominent symptom of extremely fragile skin that blisters and tears from minor friction or trauma. EB is always painful, often pervasive and debilitating, and is in some cases lethal before the age of 30. Daily wound care, pain management, and protective bandaging are the only options available for people with EB.
