Kylie Runs Chicago
I had two resloutions going into 2017:
- Educate myself about and align myself with groups that advocate for people in circumstances that don't resemble my own.
- Run a marathon.
Lucky for me, I got the opportunity to do both simultaneously when my position at The Davis Firm put me in direct contact with the dedicated and impassioned people at debra of America.
I became familiar with EB by way of a BBC documentary many years ago and, though I had yet to meet anyone who suffered from this disease, the material stayed with me.
This really is "the worst disease you've never heard of" and I'm grateful for the opportunity to provide whatever small platform I can to bring more attention to its existence. I'm also thrilled that I'll get to do just that over the course of 26.2 miles in a city I find absolutely charming...
If you find yourself in a position to donate and are so inclined, please know you'll be doing untold good for families who deal with the emotional, physical, and financial burdens that accompany an Epidermolysis Bullosa diagnosis. You'll also have an incredibly grateful runner crossing the finish line on Sunday, October 8th, 2017 in your corner.
Thank you for supporting me in my efforts to raise money and awareness for the EB community, and debra of America. Please click the button on the right of the page to complete your donation. Every little bit helps us get closer to a cure for The Worse Disease You've Never Heard Of. Did you know that of those born with EB in 2014, 22% are no longer with us? That's why we count on the support of people just like you: Because the cost of doing nothing is too great.
